The Moment of Truth

I think it was when I had a break. I went to Australia for 9 days and thought I just had to make a go of it.

I was getting pretty tired of doing what I’d been doing for 3 years.

Initially I tried to make a start with coaching but that sort of fell through. Later, I attended a Leverage Board Game evening and met quite a few different coaches and yeah, I quite liked ActionCOACH …

When my ActionCOACH came to compile an Alignment Report, we talked about what it was that I wanted out of business and out of life, and what I was going to do in the areas that I thought needed improvement.

ActionCOACH then went away and put the Alignment Report together. It took about 2 weeks to work out the different strategies that we could use as a basis to start off with.

At the time, I had two team members and they decided to leave within 6 weeks of each other.

Yes, that was certainly a challenge, but you know, you work through it. My ActionCOACH was very helpful. ActionCOACH kept my feet firmly on the ground. ActionCOACH made me look at it from a business point-of-view. And I’m really happy with the team I’ve got now. So it’s actually worked out really well.

There’s been a huge amount of stuff that we’ve implemented and put in place because of what happened (my people leaving); that has changed the way I look at things.

A process – now there’s a way that we do things as opposed to how we used to; you know; right, let’s just do this now, and then that …

Well, normally when you first start working with a Business Coach, you don’t initially start by looking at your team. We started with the team. You’d normally be looking at implementing a couple of bits and pieces and seeing how they go, but we needed to rebuild what it was that we had anyway.

This actually turned out to be quite good.

I certainly do see that it’s all coming together … we’ve got a plan and it’s really good. You don’t feel that you’re just working and working and working …
