Stephen’s Story
I had been working in the pest control industry for many years. Technically speaking, I was very competent.

Nevertheless, I knew that, however, good I was, there was a limit to what I could achieve in terms of remuneration.

This prompted me to venture out on my own, so I started a pest control business in 1985.1 thought and believed that through business, I could have more money, more freedom and a higher standard of living.

My business had been enjoying a steady and gradual growth since its inception. Nothing spectacular. I had always faced the challenges of improving my sales and profits. But as my business continued to expand, I encountered even more challenges, particularly in leading and motivating my team to perform at consistently higher levels of service.

Plus, I was getting busier by the day. Instead of having more personal time, I had to spend even more time in my business.

I soon realized that my knowledge base was not sufficient to cope with the ever-increasing demands posed by my business.

I then decided to complete a diploma course in management and update my knowledge regarding the latest technological trends and new developments in the pest management field through reading industry magazines.
