The Moment of Truth
The big thing for us was that we had become so entrenched in working IN the business and we knew we needed to work on it. We knew we needed to do something different, so we could allocate the time and continue working on the business to develop it further. We’d reached a certain point where yes, we’d met the plan – the year plan: yes, we’d proven the model; yes, it was a service that’s needed; and yes, we’d achieved all we’d wanted to achieve.
Now we had to take it further, and that’s where we were at.
Then, probably a couple of months into the new financial year and the new year for our business planning, we realized that we needed to get some help to take us further. We knew what we needed to do; however, we just couldn’t seem to make the time. We wanted someone who would have the experience and the knowledge to assist us.
We had a phone system put in and the woman that we were dealing with recommended a web-site designer. The web-site designer had a business that was in the same sort of position that ours was in, and he put us on to ActionCOACH … word of mouth!
Firstly, ActionCOACH ensured that we put some things down on paper, so we could get back into working to a plan again. And then from there, what we’re finding through working with him is that we’re actually working through all the things that we need to work through, bit-by-bit. This is happening, because time’s allocated, we sit down and discuss what we’ve done, what we need to do, and we put those goals and plans into place and it happens the next week. So it actually means that we’re working through all the business that we need to work through, while working IN the business.
ActionCOACH keeps us ON it and IN it, and that’s been the fun part.
Our main challenge is that there are not enough hours in the day! So how do we overcome this?
Time is one of the challenges, but it just happens, because as we’ve set those things in place, when we compile our Weekly Goal Sheet, we know they have to be done. In the spare moments we just go back to the goal sheets and do it, whereas before, it wouldn’t have happened.
As for our achievements, we’re now moving on again and that’s critical. We’ve had huge growth in our customer base, and because this growth is predominantly word of mouth, that’s exponential.
We now have more staff, which relieves us of some of the pressure, which in turn will ensure we can meet demands.
